Brian Scott Holt

Graphic Designer Extraordinaire

Let's Work Together

Hello. I’m Brian Holt. I am an up-and-coming student graphic designer currently attending Oakland Community College – Orchard Ridge campus focusing on an associate’s degree in applied science with a concentration on graphic design.

I have always been into creative things mainly because my mom is a very crafty woman. She loves doing crafts and I grew up watching her being creative. I got into designing in 2007 when I worked on a joint venture with a coworker who asked me to design a website for a business venture he had in mind. At that time, I had absolutely no idea of what I was doing, and I knew nothing about web design. That same coworker bought me a book on how to code in HTML design and from there I was hooked. I managed to make my coworker a website for his company, but I must tell you it was pure crap. Probably the worst website I’ve ever seen. However, it was at that moment I realized this was something I really wanted to get into. So I began to study more applied myself longer and harder, and the next thing I knew I was making websites for family and friends, for free mind you. Since then I’ve been making websites (for pay)  for clients.

I also started dabbling in graphic design, designing flyers, invitations, cards and t-shirts.  So, at the young tender age of 48 I decided to go to school and get a degree in graphic design just as my youngest daughter did at Oakland University. I’m planning to use this learning experience to further my knowledge and hopefully it will lead to another career path after retirement in a few short years.

When I’m not at work or in school, which seems like I’m always there, I love boating, fishing marksmanship and playing keyboard. I play keyboard and organ at a church in Detroit and also dabble with jazz piano.
